All things Summer

Last week we had beautiful weather. It was hot so I let the kids play in the hose. They haven't forgotten and I have been asked every day since if they could do it again.

I think the best part about them playing in the hose is for some reason Ari monopolized it and had the best time spraying his sister and brother. On the other hand he had the biggest meltdown when his turn was over. I am not really surprised by that.

I was outside at one point last week and heard, "Hey mom! Look at me! I am on top of the garage." I think I had a mini heart attack. Eli and I had to have a talk about him not climbing up there. I suspect it wasn't the first time. It was close to the last time. I let him do it once more with me around and then we decided it was not going to happen again.

Races have been a big thing down the slide...

Memorial Day Weekend Anthony and I spent almost the entire weekend putting in the garden. We tore out all the sod and filled the raised beds with dirt (Anthony did most of the moving of the dirt). When it was all said and done I was going to push the kids around in the wheelbarrow because we all know that is the best part. Anthony beat me too it. They loved it well except Ari.......Surprised? I am not.

I will tittle this photo, "Watch out Jack!"

So far Spring/Summer has not disappointed. We are headed out to play and water the garden. Have a wonderful weekend!

Letter to My Children-May

Dear Eli, Lilliana, and Ari,

The past couple of weeks I have been working on Joy. Let's face it.......As much as I love you and as much fun as we have sometimes you guys drive me bonkers and my joy does not show. It is something that needs to be worked on and it has been what I have been doing. I have been working on making you joyful too. I hope that your joy makes me even more joyful. I think it is working. I like seeing your silly smiles, funny growls, and all around craziness (most of the time on the crazy). Hopefully through all of this we become more joyful as a family, because God knows your mom can be the least joyful of all of us! So for now I choose Joy! Thank you for making me smile!

Love,
Mom

The Carnival

February it is freezing outside and there is snow. That means nothing to Eli. I began getting questions, "When is is time for the carnival?" That is when the countdown begins. The Sunday before the carnival starts the trucks begin entering town. Since we live on mainstreet the kids know it is that time. They talk about it all week and everday we get asked if it is the day we get to go.

Usually we are able to walk down and watch them set up. This year with Anthony's work day and constant rain we didn't walk down. Eli did somehow manage to get me to walk down the following day. I didn't even realize that is what he was doing. He wanted to play in the front yard and then they all asked to go for a walk. I indulged and we walked down to watch for a bit.

Finally the day came that they could go. We also invited Eli's friend to come ride with him. They all had so much fun. Ari could not ride on as much and that ended in a few tears, but he still had fun.

Excuse Anthony's silly expression as he waved to Ari

Ari LOVED the carousel. He sat there and waved to everybody.

These boys thought it would be so fun to make throw up noises while riding......
