There have been many times God has put people in my life and I know it has been a God thing. I have experienced that with some new friends of ours. Our homeschool curriculum is not conventional in many ways. In fact it can get a lot of getting use to. Anthony and I were trying to decide what direction to go with in Math the other night and I had to reexplain how things are done. It can be hard to think about as most kids Eli's age have gone to school to learn things. Specifically reading. Charlotte Mason encourages reading, but at this age more time spent playing and habit training. I will say Eli is also an exception. He is mature and smart for his age. It has been hard to hold off with teaching him more.
Where am I going with this? Along with our curriculum being a little unconventional, there are also not a lot of families in the area that teach that way. By searching we were able to come in contact with another wonderful family that does the same curriculum. The best part, they have 3 kids all around the same age our ours. Last week we met up for our nature walk. We had so much fun and the kids have been asking when we will go again. Unfortunately it has been raining all week, but I am sure it will happen soon. They played and enjoyed themselves. It was nice to spend the morning running and exploring. We also learned a few new plant names.
I am thrilled we have found new friends! I also know I have a great resource for help when I need direction. One thing I have learned is homeschooling is overwhelming! There is so many different curriculum and in the end YOU are responsible for if your child learns or not. It can be scary, but I am surrounding myself with others who have wonderful advice.
