Eli was dreaming about his birthday weeks before the actual event. Every day we counted down to see how many days it was until the big day. He celebrated it in typical Eli fashion which included a request for no school (I graciously granted that except for reading), playing Legos, and watching The Lego Movie.
He was not interested in helping bake his cake so I did that. His sneaky little brother climbed the step stool and ate a huge hole out of the center while I was upstairs getting ready. Eli took it well. He was hoping for a sword shaped cake and just said it was a big crater in the cake. He had a story about it like it was bombed, or a volcano was about to erupt. It was cute and I am glad he took it so well.

His request was Chili's for dinner. We enjoyed a nice meal out.
Then we came home for cake and presents.
He had a great birthday, and Checkers has become a new favorite game. He can't wait to move onto Chess.
