Homemade Baby Food-Day 3 Apricots and Cherries

Eli wanted to help me yesterday so he got to and loved every minute of it.

Apricots

Wash your apricots. Then cut them in half. There will be a pit in them so take the pit out. I used a pound of apricots. They came in a bag at Meijer.

My little helper arranging them for me

Then put them in a strainer that can go no a big stock pot and be covered.

The pot on the bottom needs to have boiling water. Place the strainer or steamer on top and cover. Let them cook for about 10 minutes. They need to be soft and the flesh will be falling off when they are done.

All done cooking. Soft and flesh is coming off

Close up of how they should look

Add them to a blender and puree.

Final result! I think I ended up with 7 bags with a 1/3 of a cup in each.

Cherries
Wash cherries. Then cut in half and pull out pits along with de stemming them. I had a bag of cherries and do not remember the exact poundage and we ate some so this won't be the best accuracy but these are easy and just make what you have:)

My little helper de stemming the cherries for me. He was so excited to help me.
Little hands but such a big help
He loved just playing with them. They were going to be mushed so I didn't mind too much.

After they have been halved, de stemmed, and pitted add them to the blender and puree.

Then add the puree to a saucepan and cook on medium heat for 3-5 minutes.

Let it cool completely and add to bag or ice cube trays and freeze.

***Cherries seem to stain clothes and so do blueberries so remember that when feeding your baby or making these! My fingers are stained from the cherries.***

Stay tuned for tomorrow when I talk about Peaches and Nectarines
